We are seeking a Deputy Director of People Services to lead and innovate in various strategic areas including staff wellbeing, job evaluation, and employee learning and development. This role is pivotal in shaping our People Services strategies and ensuring the effective management and implementation of people-related metrics and data analysis.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities:
  • Leadership and Management: Assist in the implementation of the College People Strategy, manage key personnel within the department, and develop training programs that enhance management capabilities.
  • Job Evaluation: Establish and monitor a fair and non-discriminatory job evaluation scheme, ensuring consistency across job descriptions and specifications.
  • Staff Wellbeing: Develop and implement a comprehensive Wellbeing Strategy and a Mental Health Strategy, coordinating with relevant departments to enhance employee support systems.
  • Recruitment and Resourcing: Lead the development of a robust Recruitment Strategy to attract and onboard top talent, maintaining strong relationships with recruitment agencies and enhancing the employee brand.
  • People Metrics and Evaluation: Define and monitor key performance indicators for People Services, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and continuous improvement.
  • Compliance and Quality Management: Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and standards, manage resources effectively, and uphold high standards of quality and performance across all operations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Education: Qualified to CIPD level 7 or equivalent in HR.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a managerial HR role, with a demonstrable record of strategic management and operational efficiency.
  • Knowledge: Excellent understanding of HR, employment law, and organisational development. Familiarity with Safeguarding and Keeping Children Safe in Education.
  • Skills: Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving capabilities. Proficient in Microsoft Office and relevant Management Information Systems.
  • Attributes: Ability to work under pressure, meet tight deadlines, and maintain a positive approach to customer service. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
