2nd/3rd line Support Engineer

We’re recruiting on behalf of a highly respected company looking for an experienced 2nd/3rd Line Support Engineer to join a skilled team responsible for maintaining a robust and secure IT environment. This role will be part of a small, collaborative team where the engineer will engage in both BAU support and technical project work, requiring a professional with a versatile skill set and a proactive approach.

The Role:As a 2nd/3rd Line Support Engineer, you will provide expert technical support and play a key role in implementing, managing, and optimizing infrastructure projects. The role is hybrid, with three days onsite and additional onsite days required during probation to ensure seamless onboarding. You’ll be instrumental in troubleshooting, mentoring less experienced team members, and delivering critical projects on time and within budget.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical Support: Deliver top-notch BAU support, addressing complex technical issues with a fast and methodical approach.
  • Project Implementation & Management: Lead and contribute to infrastructure projects, managing end-to-end tasks with attention to timelines, quality, and budget constraints.
  • Mentorship: Support and mentor junior team members, sharing knowledge and fostering a collaborative learning environment.
  • Troubleshooting: Analyze and resolve hardware and software issues, ensuring minimal disruption and efficient problem resolution.
  • Confidentiality: Work with sensitive data and information in a discreet, professional manner, adhering to all data security standards.
  • Hands-On Infrastructure Management: Maintain and troubleshoot Windows servers (2003 and above), LANs, WANs, virtualization environments, network design, and firewalls.
  • Security Expertise: Apply strong security knowledge, implementing and managing security techniques within the IT infrastructure.

Skills & Experience:

  • Proven background in BAU support and infrastructure projects, with a focus on delivering practical solutions.
  • Demonstrable success in delivering infrastructure change projects on time and within budget.
  • Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 & 2025
  • Experience with VMware 5.5/6.0/6/5/6/7/7
  • Active Directory and Group Policy
  • Office 365 and Exchange 2016/2019
  • Citrix Xenapp 6.5 & 7.6
  • Intune
  • Firewall experience – Checkpoint , Sonicwall, Meraki MX
  • Networking experience LAN, WAN – Cisco & Meraki
  • Cloud Skills – Azure Infrastructure , deployment & management
  • O365 Configuration
  • PowerShell Scripting
  • Skilled in quickly diagnosing and resolving technical issues in a structured manner.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of IT security and control techniques, with experience deploying and managing security solutions.
  • A collaborative approach to mentoring, fostering growth and knowledge sharing within the team.
