Location: Sparkhill, Birmingham B11
Pay Scale: 95 - 105 per day
Duration: Long Term to Permanent
Days: Monday to Friday
Hours: 8:30 - 15:30

Long Term Futures is looking for a dedicated Learning Mentor to support primary school pupils with SEN at a mainstream school in Sparkhill. This role focuses on providing individual and small-group support to help children overcome barriers to learning and reach their full potential. This is a long-term position, with the opportunity to become permanent for the right candidate.

Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Provide 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils with SEN engage in learning
  • Implement strategies to support emotional regulation, behaviour management, and social development
  • Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to track progress and adapt support strategies
  • Use structured interventions and positive reinforcement techniques to promote engagement and independence
  • Assist pupils with transitions and changes in routine, reducing anxiety and promoting stability
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families to create a supportive learning environment

What We're Looking For:

  • Relevant qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning or a related field
  • Experience working with SEN pupils in a primary school setting
  • Understanding of SEN and behavioural needs, with training in TeamTeach or Positive Behaviour Management being a plus
  • Strong communication and rapport-building skills, with experience using Makaton or PECS being beneficial
