Role Overview:

As a Pastoral/Family Support Worker, you will provide essential support to students and their families, ensuring they have access to the resources, guidance, and services they need to succeed. You will work closely with staff, pupils, and parents/carers to promote emotional well-being, address pastoral concerns, and support students’ overall development.

Key Responsibilities:

Work closely with children, families, and staff to address pastoral issues, ensuring all students feel safe, supported, and valued.

Provide one-on-one and group support to students dealing with emotional or social challenges.

Offer advice and guidance to parents and carers, helping them navigate issues affecting their child’s learning and wellbeing.

Develop and implement tailored support plans for students, ensuring appropriate interventions and follow-ups.

Liaise with external agencies, such as social services, counselling services, and local support groups, when necessary.

Work collaboratively with school staff to support children’s emotional needs and wellbeing in the classroom and throughout school life.

Help promote positive behaviour, resolve conflicts, and facilitate peer relationships.

Monitor and track the progress of students receiving support, providing regular updates to relevant staff and families.

Support the development of a positive and inclusive school culture where every child’s needs are understood and respected.

Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for someone who is passionate about supporting children and families, and who thrives in a school environment. The successful candidate will have:

  • Experience working with children, preferably in an educational or social care setting.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with children, parents, and staff.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures.
  • A compassionate, empathetic, and patient approach to working with children and families.
  • An understanding of the challenges faced by families in a school community and a proactive attitude toward addressing these issues.
  • A relevant qualification in education, social work, or a related field (desirable but not essential).
  • Ability to manage confidential information with integrity and sensitivity.
