Long Term Futures is looking for a dedicated and proactive Learning Mentor to support mixed-age pupils within a welcoming mainstream primary school in Aston. This role involves working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support teaching and learning, provide interventions, and help manage behaviour. This is a full-time position, running Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm during term time. Initially a long-term role, there is potential for this to become permanent for the right candidate.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support for pupils with SEN and behavioural needs, ensuring they can fully engage in learning
  • Deliver small-group interventions to boost academic progress and emotional well-being
  • Offer one-to-one mentoring for children with Autism, ADHD, and other additional needs
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and adapt support strategies
  • Assist both lower and higher-achieving pupils, ensuring all children reach their potential
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting independence and confidence

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • A relevant qualification (Teaching Assistant, Learning Mentor, or related field)
  • Experience working with SEN pupils in a primary school setting
  • A strong understanding of SEN and behavioural needs; DSL experience is desirable
  • A flexible and adaptable approach, tailored to individual pupil needs
  • Excellent relationship-building skills, fostering collaboration with pupils, staff, and parents
