National Head of Transport & Logistics Planning (remote), Salary: Up to £60k + car + excellent benefits package, National role with flexibility on candidate location – Travel required to depots across the UK.

We have an exciting opportunity for a National Head of Transport & Logistics Planning to join the market leading organisation. Reporting to the Head of Transport, as Head of Logistics Planning you will lead a team responsible for the planning and customer experience performance of a mixed fleet of 100+ HGVs, lorry loader cranes, tankers, and third-party providers, across the network of depot’s throughout the UK.

You will have the ability to initiate, lead, and influence effective change throughout the organisation, maintaining the company’s standards on safety, compliance, performance, and customer excellence. Applicants will need to have experience in a similar Head of Transport planning / Head of Logistics planning role.

The role:

  • Develop key performance indicators (KPIs) in line with business values, including OTIF.
  • Drive effective fleet planning to achieve our functional goals, maximising own fleet and 3PL reduction.
  • Identify and initiate improvement opportunities, eliminating current constraints.
  • Lead Logistics projects, working collaboratively with other departments, including Procurement, Finance, and Senior Leadership.
  • Implement and optimise operational processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Monitor KPIs and take proactive measures to address any deviations from targets.
  • Continuously monitor driver behaviour & performance, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Develop staff training plans in line with current trends and industry specific requirements.
  • Produce detailed and concise reporting, highlighting performance trends, inception points, and actions.
  • Cultivating strong relationships with our maintenance suppliers, ensuring vehicles are maintained in accordance with maintenance & SLA agreements.
  • Continuously analysing fleet spend, identifying areas for improvement and future opportunities.
  • Lead fleet procurement projects, focusing on value, relevance, and performance.
  • Oversight and advocating for a strong health & safety culture

Candidate requirements:

  • Experience in a similar Head of Transport Planning / Head of Logistics Planning, or similarrole, at group / multi-site / national level.
  • A proven track record of driving change through an organisation, with the ability to influence and lead. You will demonstrate strong business acumen and financial understanding.
  • Transport planning and / or TMS software.
  • Operator Licence Awareness.
  • Complex, multi-functional problem solving and process improvements
