Our Client, a well-established Building/ Construction Company based in Birmingham are looking for a Yard Manager to join their team.
Competitive starting salary around £35,000 depending on experience.
The successful Yard Manager will be required to undertake the following duties:-
- Manageequipment, machinery, tools, and materials within the yard.
- Handle logistics and inventory control, ensuring materials are available, coordinating and facilitating deliveries and tracking inventory levels.
- Oversee maintenance and repair of machinery, spotting malfunctions, organising repairs and scheduling routing servicing.
- Handle disposal and replacement of equipment.
- Enforce safety protocols, ensuring compliance. Conduct safety inspections and provide training as required.
- Oversee 1 member of staff, ensuring work is completed to a high standard.
- Liaise with Contracts Managers and suppliers, addressing any yard related issues.
- Maintain relationships with equipment manufacturers and service providers, coordinating deliveries.
- Maintain accurate records to include inventory, equipment logs and safety documentation.
- Write and update policies, for example for checking in and out tools.
- Ensure any visitors are aware of health and safety policy.
- Recommend improvements, reviewing existing processes and implementing new in order to make the yard more efficient.
- Maintain consumables and PPE.
- Take responsibility for the upkeep, organisation and security of the yard.
The ideal Yard Manager will have:-.
- Experience working within a construction/ building environment.
- Experience as a Yard Manager/ Supervisor within a construction or building environment.
- SMSTS or SSSTS.
- CSCS card (advantageous).
- Fork lift certification (advantageous).
- Good IT skills.
- Full UK driving licence (essential).
- Knowledge of health and safety.
- Flexible attitude.
- Problem solving ability.
- Strong communication skills.
