Our Client, a well-established Building/ Construction Company based in Birmingham are looking for a Yard Manager to join their team.

Competitive starting salary around £35,000 depending on experience.

The successful Yard Manager will be required to undertake the following duties:-

  • Manageequipment, machinery, tools, and materials within the yard.
  • Handle logistics and inventory control, ensuring materials are available, coordinating and facilitating deliveries and tracking inventory levels.
  • Oversee maintenance and repair of machinery, spotting malfunctions, organising repairs and scheduling routing servicing.
  • Handle disposal and replacement of equipment.
  • Enforce safety protocols, ensuring compliance. Conduct safety inspections and provide training as required.
  • Oversee 1 member of staff, ensuring work is completed to a high standard.
  • Liaise with Contracts Managers and suppliers, addressing any yard related issues.
  • Maintain relationships with equipment manufacturers and service providers, coordinating deliveries.
  • Maintain accurate records to include inventory, equipment logs and safety documentation.
  • Write and update policies, for example for checking in and out tools.
  • Ensure any visitors are aware of health and safety policy.
  • Recommend improvements, reviewing existing processes and implementing new in order to make the yard more efficient.
  • Maintain consumables and PPE.
  • Take responsibility for the upkeep, organisation and security of the yard.

The ideal Yard Manager will have:-.

  • Experience working within a construction/ building environment.
  • Experience as a Yard Manager/ Supervisor within a construction or building environment.
  • SMSTS or SSSTS.
  • CSCS card (advantageous).
  • Fork lift certification (advantageous).
  • Good IT skills.
  • Full UK driving licence (essential).
  • Knowledge of health and safety.
  • Flexible attitude.
  • Problem solving ability.
  • Strong communication skills.
