Maintenance Engineer

The role

My client is looking for Mechanically bias (60-40) Maintenance Engineer. You will be part of a 2-man team working a 3-shift rota. You will be tasked to carry out preventative maintenance tasks as well as be reactive with regard plant breakdowns and repairs.

You will also be required to carry out Installation work on machinery and within the factory.

All actions need to be carried out in a safe and professional manor, reporting to supervisors, and filling out daily shift reports and other necessary paperwork.

 

General Duties

  1. Work on Hydraulic systems
  2. Work on Pneumatic systems
  3. General welding and fabrication
  4. Oxygen/acetylene burning.
  5. Bench fitting
  6. Forklift/cherry picker/OHC operation
  7. Basic electrical fault finding.

However as per the nature of the business, other general maintenance task wills be required.

 

Skills and Experience

Completed Apprenticeship/time served would be preferred. NVQ level 3 or City and Guilds in Mechanical Maintenance or any other relevant qualification.  We will need to see proof of certification.

Heavy Industrial work. Experience of Slitting/Decoiling machines would be an advantage.

Basic Electrical qualifications would be an advantage. And if so, we will need to see proof of certification.

Driving licence preferred but not essential.

Will start with on an initial 3-month probationary period, which may be extended if required.

 

Rates of pay

Weekly Paid

Midweek Basic Rate - £15.93ph

Overtime during the week @ Rate 2 (£19.11ph)

Saturday overtime @ Rate 4 (£23.89ph)

Sunday and Bank holidays @ Rate 3 (£31.86ph)

Basic hours equates to circa £36k + overtime.

 

Current working patterns (Based on 40 hours).

Week1:

6am-2pm Mon-Fri @ Rate 1        

Week 2:

8pm-6am Mon-Thurs @ Rate 2 + £1 /p/h antisocial allowance.

Week 3:

1pm-9pm Mon-Thurs, and 10am-6pm Fri @ Rate 1           

Hours & Shift Pattern subject to change.  As we are a 24 hour production site, maintenance cover is required at all times.  Flexibility on shift hours is essential to suit the business demand and changes to business needs.

 

Overtime requirements.

Weekend working – A minimum of 1 Saturday in 3 required following the 6-2 shift as well as 12-hour shifts to cover holidays of other engineers and maintain 24-hour plant support and/or emergency breakdowns as and when required. Additional overtime will be required to suit business needs.

 

Holiday Entitlement/Other

33 days holiday

Fixed Shutdown Periods are pre-planned during Whitsun, Summer & Christmas.  Whitsun & Summer are for Maintenance Activities whereby all Engineers are required to work.
