Development Engineer

To build and functionally develop feed systems and special purpose machinery within agreed timeframes to design specification.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Mechanically assemble machinery to general arrangement drawings.
  • Install and plumb pneumatic elements of machinery.
  • Support electrical engineers with fitting of cable tray, feeding cables etc, where required.
  • To work to communicated timeframes against project milestones.
  • Participate in design reviews when requested to feedback thoughts and concerns to design prior to build.
  • Take machines beyond the point of power on, through initial running and develop them into a fully functioning piece of production equipment in line with works order requirements.
  • Suggest any potential modifications to machine construction to improve/achieve required performance.
  • Detail any part modifications undertaken to feed back into the design change process.
  • Attend customer site for installation, commissioning and/or service visits when required.
  • To adhere to the Quality Management System and associated policies, processes and procedures.

Skills

  • Comfortable with and confident in the use of hand and power tools.
  • The ability to build industrial machinery to engineering drawings.
  • The ability to develop industrial machinery from power on to final test.
  • The ability to read engineering drawings, general arrangement drawings and pneumatic schematics, and to build to these drawings.
  • An awareness of common electrical componentry used on industrial machinery, as well as its functionality.
  • Knowledge of the Automation sector.
