Waste Compliance Officer

We are currently recruiting a Waste Compliance Officer to join the operations team at a low-tier COMAH manufacturing site in the Midlands.
Our client is an award winning, family-owned business who have a strong presence in a wide range of sectors including pharmaceutical, flavours and fragrance, personal care and agrochemical to name a few.
THE ROLE
As Waste Compliance Officer you will be responsible for managing the disposal of waste in a chemical manufacturing environment.
Key responsibilities:
- Ensure all packaged process waste is stored, managed and disposed of in accordance with UK legislation
- Arrange the preparation of waste streams for off-site disposal and ensure disposal companies meet 'duty of care' regulations
- Liaise with QC to analyse/interpret waste streams and ensure accurate labelling, documentation and disposal routes for waste
- Ensure compliance with Packaging Waste and Dangerous Goods Transport regulations
- Manage on- site solvent incineration
- Create safety data sheets for waste streams using ExESS software
- Actively participate in audits to maintain Environmental Management System (ISO14001)
Qualifications/Skills:
- Qualified in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a waste management company or chemical environment
- Previous experience in a similar role managing the disposal of waste streams
- Excellent communication skills
- High attention to detail
- Waste Management qualifications/endorsements advantageous
