We’re working with a national retailer who is currently developing an inhouse marketing team, and this will be the third recruit to the team, behind a Marketing Manager and a designer. In brief, this is a role for a real Shopify Ecommerce Specialist, and it is an opportunity to really thrive and help the business grow.
The role:
Our client has always worked with agencies for their marketing and whilst they will continue to do so for some elements (PPC and SEO primarily) they’re working hard to gain as much knowledge as they can internally. Because this role will be their first Ecommerce specialist, there isn’t a hard and fast job description. Obviously, they’ve been utilising the agency for years to help with their offering, but what they really want is someone who is going to really absorb themselves in the website, identifying and eliminating problems and building best practise around it.
So, you’ll take ownership of the Shopify store, ensuring it runs efficiently and meets the business needs, working closely with the marketing manager with regard to brand and tone of voice. You’ll manage a website administrator who mainly writes product descriptions and uploads products, but there may be ideas that you have to tweak the way this works. You’ll optimise store performance through data driven decisions, improving site functionality, load times and customer experience. You’ll work with he external agency on PPC and Seo strategies and will monitor KPI’s identifying areas of improvement. Additionally you’ll handle integrations with apps, payment gateways and shipping platforms and oversee the customer experience, ensuring smooth navigation, checkout and post-purchase processes.
What we’re looking for:
We really need someone who has gained a good amount of Ecommerce experience managing a Shopify store - you’ll really need to have a strong understanding of the platforms features and customisations. You’ll be proficient in ecommerce tools, including Google Analytics and Shopify apps and you’ll be skilled in data analysis - able to turn insights into actionable strategies. It would also be great if you had any experience specifically with ecommerce of bulky items such as furniture.
You might need a bit of patience as well. Clearly this website is up and running and turning a solid profit, but you will be the first person the company has employed in this capacity, and whilst they’re very open to ideas and change for the better, this won’t happen overnight and you’ll need to be prepared to put a strategy in place to make things happen.
What’s on Offer?
Ideally this is an office based role, however there may be some flexibility to work one day from home, office hours are 7.30-4 - brilliant for avoiding the traffic and for ensuring you can make the most of your evening. Salary for the role is between £35-40,000 depending on experience. Located right on the motorway network, it’s very easy to get to the offices. This is a great opportunity to make your mark on a business and to be given the opportunity to grow your own team.
