Job Title: Project Manager

Location: Midlands, UK

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager with an electrical bias and strong knowledge of 400kV Grid Code requirements for a 12-month contract in the Midlands. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the delivery of two significant BESS projects, as well as overseeing high-voltage infrastructure development. Experience with the FIDIC form of contract is essential, as you will ensure contractual compliance and successful project execution.

This role will require expertise in large-scale electrical projects, particularly in 400kV power transmission and grid connections, ensuring full compliance with UK Grid Code standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage large-scale projects, including BESS and high-voltage grid infrastructure projects
  • Ensure all project activities are in full compliance with the FIDIC form of contract, managing contractual obligations, variations, and claims.
  • Oversee the technical delivery to meet 400kV Grid Code standards and ensure adherence to UK electrical regulations.
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders, ensuring strong communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Proactively identify risks and ensure quality standards are upheld throughout the project phases, delivering within agreed timelines and budgets.
  • Manage project budgets, track costs, and prepare financial reports, ensuring alignment with overall project objectives.
  • Manage multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, subcontractors, and technical support staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient project environment.
  • Ensure all project documentation, including schedules, progress reports, and contractual records, are accurately maintained.
  • Ensure all health, safety, and environmental requirements are met, adhering to industry best practices and regulatory standards.

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, with a strong focus on high-voltage systems.
  • Extensive experience with 400kV electrical systems and a thorough understanding of UK Grid Code requirements.
  • Proven track record in managing projects under the FIDIC form of contract, including familiarity with contract negotiation, management, and dispute resolution.
  • Strong background in managing large-scale electrical and energy infrastructure projects, ideally within the power transmission or energy storage sectors.
  • Project management certifications (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) would be advantageous.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety standards in the construction and power transmission industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage teams, as well as collaborate with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to overcome project challenges.
  • A valid UK driving license is essential for site visits across the Midlands.
  • Experience working with National Grid or DNOs (Distribution Network Operators).
  • Must be willing to be on site 5 days per week.
