Job Brief:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join a growing team in Birmingham. This is an excellent opportunity for someone early in their career to gain hands-on experience while supporting the commercial team on a variety of projects across the region.

You will assist in managing costs, valuations, contract administration, and financial reporting on construction projects. Working closely with Senior Quantity Surveyors, you will help ensure that our projects are delivered on time and within budget, without compromising on quality.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in preparing tender and contract documentation.

  • Help manage subcontractor packages, payments, and procurement.

  • Conduct site visits and support the valuation process.

  • Assist in monitoring project costs and financial performance.

  • Help prepare interim valuations and final accounts.

  • Support with cost analysis and reporting.

  • Maintain and track variations and change management procedures.

  • Liaise with project managers, clients, and subcontractors.

Requirements:

  • Degree or diploma in Quantity Surveying or a related field (or working towards one).

  • 2 - 3 years of experience in a similar role.

  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other relevant software.

  • Good communication and teamwork abilities.

  • Willingness to learn and grow within the role.

  • A driving license is beneficial but not essential.
