Senior Quantity Surveyor Birmingham Hospital refurbishment

We are currently partnering with a Tier 1 Main Contractor who are a leading UK Infrastructure group. With a global presence and a successful history spanning over a century, they are now looking to increase their team even further with a Senior Quantity Surveyor in Birmingham.

Responsibilities

Cost Management and Budgeting: A Senior Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing the overall project budget, ensuring that the refurbishment project stays within financial limits. This includes preparing cost estimates, managing costs through regular monitoring, and implementing strategies to avoid cost overruns.

Contract Administration: They handle the preparation and management of contracts, ensuring that the terms and conditions are adhered to by all parties involved. This includes negotiating with contractors, suppliers, and subcontractors, as well as addressing any contractual disputes that may arise during the project.

Value Engineering: The Senior Quantity Surveyor identifies opportunities for cost savings and efficiencies without compromising on quality. They work closely with architects, engineers, and contractors to ensure that the hospital refurbishment is completed to a high standard while adhering to the budget.

Tendering and Procurement: They manage the tendering process, including preparing tender documents, evaluating bids, and selecting contractors and suppliers for the project. This also involves negotiating prices and terms to ensure the best value for money.

Risk Management and Reporting: Identifying potential financial and operational risks to the project and managing those risks is a key responsibility. The Senior Quantity Surveyor prepares regular reports on the financial status of the project and advises senior management on any potential risks, delays, or budget adjustments.

Requirements

4+ years' experience in a similar role
