We have partnered with a growing company in the field of materials characterisation, offering innovative solutions to various industries. They have recently expanded our portfolio with a new client and product, which requires the addition of a dedicated Service Engineer to the team. The department consists of a manager, two team leads, and a talented group of 15 engineers spread across the UK, with 2 engineers based in our Luton office. The Service Engineer will be joining a well-established team, with extensive product training and support provided to ensure success in the role.
As a Field Service Engineer for Materials Characterisation (TEX), you will play a key role in the installation, maintenance, and servicing of laboratory equipment. This role is a mix of field service and administrative duties, with approximately 1-2 days a week in the office, 3 days on-site with customers, and occasional overnight stays (5-6 per month). The role offers a significant opportunity for growth and skill development through extensive training and support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install and commission laboratory equipment at client sites across the UK.
- Perform preventative maintenance, servicing, and troubleshooting of various lab equipment.
- Provide ongoing support and technical assistance to clients, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Maintain accurate records of services performed, issues resolved, and any parts replaced.
- Participate in extensive product training, including online training and international sessions in Austria or Germany over a six-month period.
- Regular travel across the UK to customer sites, with occasional overnight stays (5-6 per month).
Person Specification:
- Experience with laboratory equipment is desirable, but we are open to candidates with a background in similar engineering roles (science, medical, or military engineers).
- Strong troubleshooting and repair skills, excellent communication, and a customer-focused approach.
- We value candidates with a proven track record of stability and commitment to their previous roles.
- Candidates with experience such as science engineers, medical engineers, or military engineers are preferred.
- Enthusiastic, driven, and team oriented. Ability to work independently while contributing to a dynamic, inclusive, and collaborative team culture.
Salary & Benefits:
- Salary: £35,000 - £43,000 (based on experience) + up to 10% bonus
