We are looking for a Product Architect to join our Digital & Technology team and provide support on project changes across the digital domain. The product architect will be responsible for designing, developing and implementing designs that align with the business requirements and the Digital & Technology strategy. The product architect will also collaborate with other product and domain architects, developers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure the quality and consistency of the technical designs.

Reporting into the Head of Product, the architect role is responsible for a range of customer and operator facing technology solutions. These solutions need to integrate seamlessly with each other and Compass’s core technology platforms. The architect will also play a vital part in assessing new products and ensuring their alignment to strategy and standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyse the business requirements and translate them into low-level technical designs and specifications.
  • Ensure that the software / technical designs are aligned with the Digital & Technology strategy, architecture principles, standards, and best practices.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to the project teams and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review and validate the low-level technical deliverables and ensure that they meet the quality, compliance criteria and are approved by the Enterprise Design Authority.
  • Identify and manage the risks, issues, and dependencies related to the solutions and logging in the Architecture RAID Log.
  • Communicate and present the low-level technical designs and architectures to various audiences, including senior management, clients, and customers.
  • Keep abreast of the latest trends and technologies in the IT industry and evaluate their potential benefits and impacts for the business.

Skills and experience:

  • A bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience in technical architecture, software design, and development, preferably in the food and support services sector or a similar industry.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in application change, including web, mobile, cloud, and integration technologies with a strong background in software engineering.
  • Experience in retail and hospitality domains is advantageous.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience of both Agile and Waterfall project methodologies and teams
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to balance conflicting requirements and priorities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in agile and waterfall methodologies, as well as IT governance and compliance frameworks.
  • Certification in TOGAF, ArchiMate, or other relevant architecture frameworks is desirable.
