SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Aston, Birmingham B6
Day Rate: 95-105
Days: Monday to Friday (Term Time Only)
Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM

Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to provide support to pupils with complex needs, including ASD, ADHD, and communication difficulties, at a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Aston, Birmingham (B6). This long-term position offers the potential for a permanent role for a candidate committed to creating a nurturing and structured learning environment.

Responsibilities:

Provide 1:1 and small group support, ensuring pupils can access learning in a way that meets their individual needs.
Implement strategies to support communication, sensory regulation, and emotional well-being.
Use visual aids, structured routines, and positive reinforcement to encourage engagement and independence.
Support pupils in managing transitions and changes in routine to reduce anxiety and promote stability.
Use positive behaviour management techniques to de-escalate situations and encourage self-regulation.

Candidate Requirements:

A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent experience in an SEN setting).
Prior experience working with children with ASD, ADHD, and other complex learning needs.
Strong knowledge of PECS, Makaton, sensory strategies, and structured interventions (preferred but not essential).
A sound understanding of safeguarding procedures and best practices in child protection.
