Long Term Futures is seeking a compassionate and resilient SEN Teaching Assistant to provide support to pupils with complex needs, including ASD, ADHD, and communication difficulties, at a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Aston, Birmingham (B6). This long-term position offers the potential for a permanent role for a candidate committed to creating a nurturing and structured learning environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support, ensuring pupils can access learning in a way that meets their individual needs.
  • Implement strategies to support communication, sensory regulation, and emotional well-being.
  • Use visual aids, structured routines, and positive reinforcement to encourage engagement and independence.
  • Support pupils in managing transitions and changes in routine to reduce anxiety and promote stability.
  • Use positive behaviour management techniques to de-escalate situations and encourage self-regulation.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A Level 2 or 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning (or equivalent experience in an SEN setting).
  • Prior experience working with children with ASD, ADHD, and other complex learning needs.
  • Strong knowledge of PECS, Makaton, sensory strategies, and structured interventions (preferred but not essential).
  • A sound understanding of safeguarding procedures and best practices in child protection.
