Long Term Futures is seeking a Specialist Behaviour Mentor to support pupils within a Key Stage 2 class at a welcoming mainstream primary school in Northfield. The successful candidate will work alongside the class teacher to support teaching and learning, assist children with SEN, and help manage behaviour within the group. This full-time role runs Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 3:30 pm during term time and is initially long-term, with the potential to become a permanent position for the right person.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Offering personalised support to mixed-age pupils, with a focus on SEN and behavioural needs
- Leading targeted small-group interventions to support student development
- Providing one-to-one mentoring for children with Autism, ADHD, or lower learning levels
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and adjust support strategies
- Supporting both underperforming and high-achieving students to reach their full potential
- Promoting an inclusive and positive learning environment that aligns with the school's values
The ideal candidate will have:
- A relevant degree or Teaching Assistant qualification
- Experience supporting SEN children in a primary school setting, including ASD, ADHD, or SEMH
- A strong understanding of SEN and behavioural needs
- Additional training such as TeamTeach or ELSA is highly desirable
- Flexibility and adaptability to meet individual student needs
- Strong relationship-building skills with pupils, staff, and parents to support a collaborative learning environment
