Purchasing Manager

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

Location: Tyseley, Birmingham

Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm (Office-based)

Holiday Allowance: 20 days + Bank Holidays

Due to their continued expansion and success, they are seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead and optimise their procurement operations. Position Overview:

As the Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing procurement activities, ensuring cost-effective purchasing strategies, and maintaining strong relationships with suppliers. You will play a crucial role in managing supplier negotiations, implementing best practices, and driving efficiencies across the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies to enhance efficiency and cost savings.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure competitive pricing and reliable supply chains.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing agreements with suppliers.
  • Manage and mentor a team of three procurement operatives, providing guidance and performance oversight.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to forecast demand and manage inventory levels effectively.
  • Source new suppliers and assess their capabilities to ensure they meet company standards.
  • Analyse purchasing data and market trends to identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, industry regulations, and quality standards.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience managing people in a procurement or purchasing environment.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a Purchasing Manager or similar role.
  • Level 3 CIPS qualification (or higher) is essential.
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.
  • Ability to analyse data, assess risks, and make strategic purchasing decisions.
  • Experience within manufacturing, engineering, or construction industries is highly desirable.
