Location: Queen Elizabeth Hospital (QEH)

Pay rate: 23.87 per hour
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Shift Pattern: 4 on / 4 off (2 days: 07:00-19:00, 2 nights: 19:00-07:00)

About the Role:

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician (Mechanical) to join our team at Queen Elizabeth Hospital. You will be responsible for maintenance, repairs, and improvement work on essential plant, equipment, and services within the hospital environment, ensuring smooth operations in critical healthcare settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventative and reactive maintenance on hospital systems and equipment.
  • Diagnose, repair, and troubleshoot mechanical faults in plant installations.
  • Work across multiple hospital areas, including ICUs, A&E, operating theatres, and the mortuary.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, KPIs, and industry standards.
  • Respond to urgent maintenance issues and unexpected technical challenges.
  • Maintain accurate records using Maximo or similar systems.
  • Provide cover for supervisors during annual leave or absences.
  • Undertake training to develop additional competencies in Medigas, ventilation, water, and pressure systems.

What We're Looking For:

  • City & Guilds (or equivalent) Mechanical qualification.
  • Indentured apprenticeship or equivalent training
  • Understanding of Air Handling Units (AHU) and Fan Coil Units (FCU).
  • Ability to work independently and in a team with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Flexibility to adapt to shift changes and emergency callouts.

A standard DBS is essential
