Proven construction professional with experience of delivering complex major civil engineering projects required for a Construction Delivery Director position based in Essex. This is a senior level appointment which will see you report directly into the Capital Programme Delivery Director and lead a team on a 700million construction programme. Candidates who are looking for either a permanent or contract appointment will be considered.

As Construction Delivery Director, you will lead and inspire a multi-disciplined team delivering the construction, commissioning, and transition into operation on this major infrastructure programme. As part of the Programme Leadership Team, you will contribute to developing and continually improving the company's approach to infrastructure delivery, particularly, but not limited to the areas of safety, resilience, environment and sustainability and capital efficiency

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and lead a team responsible for delivering the construction, commissioning, and transition into operation of the programme.
  • Manage the first-tier supply chain to ensure safe, efficient, and on-time delivery of the programme and associated infrastructure, adhering to required safety and quality standards.
  • Lead an integrated team of employees and consultant programme delivery professionals, ensuring collaboration across all group support and local business functions.
  • Drive best practices and innovative infrastructure delivery solutions to mitigate programme risks and meet objectives.
  • Contribute to the company's Major Programmes Leadership Team to continually improve the approach to infrastructure delivery, focusing on safety, resilience, environment, and capital efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with all statutory obligations relevant to programme delivery.
  • Take accountability for engaging engineering and design consultants/delivery partners for all workstreams.
  • Work with the Project Controls Team to define the methodology for measuring performance and output.
  • Timely and effective testing, commissioning, and handover of assets in collaboration with the Stansted Asset Management team.

Job Requirements:

  • Degree and/or Post-Graduate qualified or equivalent
  • Professional affiliation (eg: RICS; APM; CIOB; RIBA, ICE or similar)
  • A minimum of 15 years' experience of complex, project delivery leadership
  • Experience managing all phases of project delivery from project inception to test, commission and handover across the full range of project size and complexity.
  • A deep understanding of Client needs and requirements in particular commercial and operational opportunities specific to the sector.
  • Proven ability to identify and articulate the critical success factors of the project, to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Demonstrate a collaborative approach to finding, developing and delivering creative solutions to ensure the project benefits are achieved.
  • Leadership and management of large, multi-disciplinary teams specialising in project management, design and construction. In depth industry knowledge in the delivery environment.
  • Strong contractual/commercial awareness, with an understanding of risk apportionment/management and whole life value.
  • Management in regulatory environment with ability to influence a variety of stakeholders.
  • Experience of value engineering/value management approaches and their use to deliver best value technical solutions
