Overview

Professional Technical are working with a well established Design Consultancy who are seeing a period of exceptional growth in their mechanical engineering team in response to a wide range of exciting long-term project requests from clients in all four of their market sectors. As a result, we they able to offer exciting career opportunities for outstanding senior mechanical engineers with extensive product development experience as part of our growing, dynamic technical team ideally with experience in the Consumer Goods and Medical Device industries.



Responsibilities

  • Manage and work alongside other outstanding individuals, taking a technical lead role on a diverse range of exciting and challenging projects.
  • Work in multi-functional project teams and closely with designers, electronics, software engineers, and other skill teams to integrate the visual and functional aspects of a product.
  • Guide, support, and check the work of the more junior members of the engineering team.
  • Manage the financial and commercial aspects of projects as well as leading the technical work, including selecting and organising the team, managing budgets and timescales, and liaising with clients.


Qualifications

  • A 1st or Upper 2nd degree in mechanical engineering or an equivalent broad-based technical qualification.
  • Experience working in a product design or development environment, applying Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) tools and computational techniques.
  • Track record of delivering exceptional results across wide-ranging projects and overseeing projects and client relations.
  • Knowledge and experience in low-volume rapid prototyping technologies as well high-volume processes such as injection moulding.


Day-to-day

  • Work collaboratively with world-leading skill and sector experts on fascinating design and development projects with global impact.
  • Design clever mechanisms, create elegant mathematical models, and build and test prototypes in state-of-the-art workshops and labs.
  • Help create novel IP, reduce cost and environmental impact, and improve manufacturability and performance to create class-leading products.
