About the Company:A leading accountancy practice in Blackburn is looking for an experienced External Audit Senior to join their growing audit team. This is a fantastic opportunity for a qualified auditor to work with a diverse range of clients across sectors, taking the lead on audit engagements and furthering your career in a supportive and professional environment.

The Role:As an External Audit Senior, you will be responsible for managing audits from planning to completion, supervising junior staff, and maintaining strong client relationships. You will ensure audits are conducted in accordance with relevant accounting and audit standards, delivering high-quality results on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading audit assignments from planning through to completion for a portfolio of clients.
  • Conducting risk assessments and identifying key areas of audit focus.
  • Supervising and reviewing the work of junior auditors, ensuring audit quality and accuracy.
  • Preparing audit reports and presenting findings to senior management and clients.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, acting as the main point of contact throughout the audit process.
  • Ensuring audits are carried out in compliance with UK auditing standards, IFRS, and UK GAAP.
  • Reviewing financial statements and ensuring accuracy in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Providing support and mentorship to junior team members.
  • Managing time and resources efficiently to meet deadlines and client expectations.
  • Keeping up to date with audit regulations and technical updates.

Requirements:

  • ACA/ACCA qualified (or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in external audit, ideally within a practice environment.
  • Strong knowledge of UK auditing standards, IFRS, and UK GAAP.
  • Proven ability to lead audit engagements and manage a team of auditors.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build effective client relationships.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple audits and deadlines.
  • Attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
  • Proficiency in audit and accounting software such as CaseWare, Xero, or similar.
