We are working with an exclusive client based near Blackburn who are looking for an experienced Financial Controller that would like the opportunity to progress to FD within the next two years. The business has a long serving history across the Northwest and within their specific sector, so this is a great role and company to join to really enhance your skills at Board level.
The business needs an experienced leader who can manage the financial reporting and compliance of the company but also provide accurate commercial and operational leadership alongside their peers to improve the bottom line. The industry can fluctuate with external factors, and you need to be able to understand the commercial impact and guide the business operationally, with internal leadership and margin control as well as developing the offering to customers.
Duties as Financial Controller will include: -
- Produce monthly management accounts for completion to the Board with full commentary and explanation of variances.
- Responsible for the effective management of the cashflow forecasting process and company bank position, mitigating any risk.
- Manage the monthly and yearly financial forecasting and budgetary planning process, including any re-forecasting and variance explanation as and when required with consideration for external factors.
- Develop and monitor all accounting systems and business transactions, improving where necessary.
- Provide effective stock management processes for all stock movements, usage and the annual stock audit.
- Main point of contact for all internal and external parties about financial and operational queries including audit, legal and bank liaison.
- Develop the business strategy alongside the SMT, improving processes, business performance and organisational planning to continue business growth and exhaust all market opportunities.
- Responsible for Company Secretarial duties alongside all the statutory reporting, VAT/Tax completions and HMRC returns.
- Manage the finance function daily, providing leadership and support to the team.
- Manage all the business overheads, contracts and external supplier relationships to control costs.
The successful candidate will be looking to get into the Finance Director role with the next couple of years where they can lead and manage the business on a day-to-day basis, while at the same time influencing the future growth of the company. You will have a successful background in financial reporting and have worked with both operational and commercial personnel, building solid working relationships which support the business growth.
You must be fully Qualified within the profession (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) and be able to show strong performance and leadership skills at the Financial Controller level.
