About the role:

We are seeking a talented Head of Business Intelligence to join our team and drive insights into our business operations. Reporting to the Director of FP&A and Commercial Strategy, the Head of BI will play a pivotal role in leveraging data to support strategic decision-making and optimise business performance. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in business intelligence, data management, and a keen understanding of the forecourt and foodservice sector.


Key responsibilities:

Data Management and Governance:

  • Develop and implement data management processes and governance frameworks to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and reliability of business data
  • Oversee data acquisition, integration, validation, and cleansing processes to maintain high-quality data assets
  • Collaborate with IT teams to optimize data storage, retrieval, and security infrastructure

Business Intelligence Development:

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of business intelligence solutions, including dashboards, reports, and data visualisations
  • Translate business requirements into technical specifications for BI tools and solutions(specifically Power BI)
  • Implement best practices for data visualisation and storytelling to effectively communicate insights to stakeholders
  • Expertise in data modelling in analytic workloads

Data Analysis and Insights:

  • Conduct advanced data analysis to uncover trends, patterns, and insights that drive business performance and inform strategic decision-making
  • Develop predictive models and machine learning algorithms to forecast business outcomes and identify opportunities for optimisation
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business needs and deliver actionable insights through data-driven recommendations

Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

  • Establish KPIs and performance metrics to track business performance and monitor progress towards strategic objectives
  • Prepare regular performance reports and executive dashboards for senior management and key stakeholders
  • Provide deep-dive analysis and root cause identification for variances and trends in business performance

Team Leadership and Collaboration:

  • Lead a team of BI analysts, providing guidance, coaching, and professional development opportunities
  • Foster a collaborative and high-performance culture within the BI team, promoting innovation, continuous improvement, and knowledge sharing
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, operations, marketing, and IT, to align BI initiatives with business priorities

Essential:

  • Proven experience in business intelligence, data management, and analytics, preferably in the retail or consumer goods industry, with exposure to the forecourt sector being advantageous
  • Strong expertise in Power Bi and technologies, with proficiency in SQL, Python, or R for data analysis and manipulation
  • Experience in data modelling, data warehousing, and ETL processes
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable insights
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation

Good To Have:

  • Qualification in Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Experience in the retail or consumer goods industry, with exposure to the forecourt sector being advantageous
  • Knowledge or exposure to Microsoft Azure, Synapse Analytics & PySpark
