Robert Half has partnered with a global retail business in its search a Head of Finance to join its rapidly expanding finance team based in Blackburn. You will be responsible for driving forward our financial strategy and achieving business objectives.

This role is best suited to an individual who leads by example, is able to make important business decisions, solution orientated and is able to deliver results.

You would be relied upon to be a source of knowledge and expertise within the Finance team and be expected to guide the development of non-qualified and qualified colleagues alike.

In addition, you will be responsible for the following;

  • Contribute to the achievement of the company's business objectives by providing advice and guidance on financial strategy
  • Set long term goals for the Finance team, embedding effective controls and robust processes to support on-going growth and financial performance across the business
  • Responsible for high quality & accurate financial reporting delivering flash, ledger closes and the management accounts pack to group deadlines
  • Support with monthly board reporting and preparation for the submission to the group finance team
  • Lead year end statutory audit process, liaising with external auditors and providing all necessary documentation and evidence
  • Lead the Balance Sheet reconciliation process
  • Support with monthly board reporting and preparation for the submission to the group finance team
  • Responsible for the preparation & review of monthly management accounts from trial balance to financial statements

To be considered for this role, you will have the following;

  • Fully qualified (ACA, ACCA and CIMA) financial controller with a strong background managing a team
  • Experience of working in large organisations ideally
  • Comprehensive understanding of IFRS16 accounting treatment
  • Experience of business partnering, financial reporting and commercial analysis desirable
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, rapidly changing business environment, to multitask, to get into detail where needed and to meet deadlines on a timely basis
