We are seeking a proactive and organized Cover Manager to join our secondary school team in Nelson. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating cover arrangements for absent staff, ensuring minimal disruption to the learning process. This role is vital in maintaining the smooth operation of the school and supporting high educational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Cover Coordination: Organize and manage daily cover arrangements for teaching and non-teaching staff absences, ensuring all classes are adequately supervised.
Staff Allocation: Allocate cover supervisors and supply teachers to appropriate classes, considering their skills and subject expertise.
Communication: Communicate cover arrangements effectively to all relevant staff members, including senior leadership, teachers, and administrative staff.
Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of staff absences, cover arrangements, and the performance of supply staff.
Quality Assurance: Monitor and evaluate the performance of cover supervisors and supply teachers, providing feedback and support as necessary.
Collaboration: Work closely with the HR department to manage and maintain a pool of reliable supply staff and cover supervisors.
Emergency Cover: Provide emergency cover for classes when necessary, ensuring minimal disruption to student learning.
Policy Implementation: Implement and uphold school policies and procedures related to staff absence and cover management.
Qualifications and Skills
Educational Background: Minimum of GCSEs in English and Mathematics; a degree or equivalent qualifications in education or management is desirable.
Experience: Proven experience in a similar role within an educational setting, with a strong understanding of school operations.
Skills: Excellent organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of the secondary school curriculum and educational environment.
IT Proficiency: Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite and school management software.
