MERITUS are recruiting for Paint Sprayers to join our aviation client on an initial 12 month contract to work in Greater Blackburn & Darwen. PLEASE NOTE: WE ARE LOOKING FOR CANDIDATES WITH AEROSPACE, DEFENCE, AUTOMOTIVE OR MOTORSPORT EXPERIENCE.

PAINT SPRAYER - INSIDE IR35 - £NEG PER HOUR (UMBRELLA) - 12 MONTHS - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS - GREATER BLACKBURN & DARWEN

We are looking for a skilled Paint Sprayer to handle the preparation and coating of aerospace parts and assemblies with primers, topcoats, and specialized finishes. The role demands excellent attention to detail and expertise in paint application processes specific to the aerospace sector. The ideal candidate should be experienced in handling different types of coatings and committed to delivering superior finishes.

Main Duties:

  • Surface Preparation: Clean, mask, and sand aerospace parts to ensure optimal surface conditions for paint application.
  • Paint Application: Mix and apply a variety of primers, paints, and specialized coatings using spray guns and related tools, adhering to precise technical instructions and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Equipment Management: Regularly inspect, maintain, and calibrate paint spraying tools and equipment to ensure peak performance.
  • Quality Inspection: Examine painted components for issues such as streaks, uneven coverage, or missed areas, and perform necessary touch-ups to meet quality standards.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the quality assurance team to verify that finished products meet specified standards and customer requirements.
  • Safety Compliance: Strictly follow safety protocols, including the use of personal protective gear and ensuring proper ventilation in the work area.
  • Workplace Organization: Keep the workspace tidy and dispose of hazardous materials in accordance with environmental regulations.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate logs of paint usage, processes applied, and jobs completed.
  • Process Improvement: Participate in initiatives aimed at optimizing efficiency, reducing waste, and enhancing overall quality.

Qualifications:

  • At least 2 years of hands-on experience in industrial spray painting, preferably within the aerospace or automotive industries.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of various paint types, including primers, topcoats, and specialty finishes used in aerospace applications.
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and job orders.
  • Proficient in using spray guns, mixers, and other paint application tools.
  • Familiarity with safety practices related to paint application and handling of hazardous materials.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on achieving high-quality finishes.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Physical capability to stand for long periods, wear respiratory protection, and operate in a spray booth environment.
