About the Role:An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Pre-Litigation Fee Earner/Paralegal with expertise in Credit Hire to join a thriving Road Traffic Accident (RTA) team. This role is ideal for an ambitious individual who is looking to take the next step in their career, with a strong focus on providing exceptional client care and advice throughout the RTA claims process.

As a Pre-Litigation Fee Earner, you will be responsible for managing your own caseload of around 180 files, from submission of claims to the MOJ Portal through to litigation. You will handle a variety of cases, including those with disputed liability or cases that have dropped from the portal, with minimal supervision. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive individual who enjoys working collaboratively, is eager to support departmental growth, and can contribute to marketing and networking activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of RTA matters, including credit hire, recovery, storage, and liability issues, through the MOJ Portal and beyond.
  • Conduct investigations into cases that have left the MOJ Portal, determining the prospect of success.
  • Prepare and upload claims to the MOJ Portal and draft necessary documents including witness statements, Stage 2 packs, and Court documents.
  • Instruct medical agencies and conduct PI searches using Med Co.
  • Recover credit hire, storage, and recovery charges, ensuring that the claims process is followed through from start to finish.
  • Issue Stage 3 proceedings when necessary and prepare for court hearings, including issuing Infant Approval proceedings.
  • Provide proactive updates to clients and manage client relationships effectively throughout the process.
  • Meet monthly and quarterly targets, ensuring cases are handled efficiently and in accordance with set deadlines.

Skills/Experience Required:

  • At least 12-18 months of previous experience in a similar role, dealing with MOJ Portal cases and credit hire claims.
  • Knowledge and experience of credit hire, storage, recovery, and liability arguments are essential.
  • Experience in running a caseload with minimal supervision and preparing cases for transfer to litigation.
  • Proficiency in using case management systems and Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • A solid understanding of the Civil Procedure Rules and Pre-Action Protocols.
  • Excellent time management, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle a varied caseload while meeting realistic targets.
  • Strong written skills with an attention to detail when drafting documents.
