We are currently recruiting for an exciting opportunity to be part of a very interesting estate in Edinburgh where the works that go on there make a real contribution to society. If you’re a fan of innovation and science this is a great portfolio for you.

Managing the 16 buildings on one site, you will manage ppm and reactive maintenance across a total FM delivery – this done with 7 direct team reports and subcontractor management.

As well as maintaining the buildings, you will also be responsible for all minor works on site so knowledge of RAMS and project management is a must. Estate Health and safety is a must also with good knowledge of technical compliance and minor works H+S required.

Duties of the role include:

  • Managing the PPM and Reactive maintenance across the estate which comprises a mixture of building types and ages, ranging from Grade A and B listed buildings to modern state of the art facilities.
  • Managing the total FM on the estate covering engineering, helpdesk, cleaning, catering, grounds and security via a small in-house team and a preferred list of contractors.
  • Being an RP/AP for certain building elements.
  • Working with the companies net zero goals and improving the carbon emissions and green efficiencies of your buildings.
  • Delivering minor project works on site up to a value of £1m (above which the CAPEX team will be involved). This is full project management from conception, to tender, management of works and final inspections.
  • Managing all health and safety for the estate – this includes on projects (RAMS etc), technical compliance and day to day requirements such as risk assessments etc.
  • Managing a team of 7 and the team culture, providing support, motivation and coaching and development.
  • Working closely with the building occupants to make sure the buildings are supporting them in their work as best as possible, working with the wider goals and aims of the business.
  • Attending management meetings on behalf of the estates team.
  • Communicating with all building users and visitors who are high profile.
  • Continuous improvement of the estates services and systems development.
  • Leading from the front, getting involved with the teams and issues as needed.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:

  • TFM Estates Management experience.
  • Experience with M+E and Fabric Project works.
  • Health and Safety knowledge  - projects and technical maintenance compliance.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH very advantageous.
  • P+L Budget management experience.
  • Motivating people manager.
  • Excellent communication skills to hold meetings and communicate with C-suite staff as well as hands-on technical teams and subcontractors.
  • Adaptable mindset.
  • Experience with listed buildings is an advantage (not essential).
  • Willing to undergo relevant training to be an AP/RP if not already qualified.
