An Ofsted-graded 'Good' Alternative Provision within Blackpool are seeking a dynamic and passionate SEMH experienced Teaching Assistant to join their team for the new 2024/25 academic year.

The school require a teaching assistant to support within a nurture class. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting pupils with social, emotional and mental health difficulties (SEMH) in an alternative provision or PRU setting.The successful candidate will demonstrate resilience, patience and an ability to strike up rapport and develop relationships with SEMH pupils. Pupils arrive at the school having struggled to access learning in their previous school/s, and clear routines and therapies are implemented in school to help re-engage students with the education system. The personal relationships developed with pupils ensure that each one achieves their potential both academically and personally.

To be successful in this Teaching Assistant role, you will need to:

  • Have knowledge and understanding of working with SEN and challenging behaviour
  • Demonstrate a proven record of engaging all pupils and raising their attainment
  • Be subject to an Enhanced DBS Disclosure - or hold a DBS currently subscribed to DBS Update Service
  • Provide overseas Police Clearances (if applicable) and undergo professional reference checks
  • Ensure your CV covers all employment and education since leaving secondary school
  • Have the legal right to work in the UK
