About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant Level 3 with an SEN Allowance, you will work under the guidance of the class teacher and SENCO to provide targeted support to students with identified special educational needs. You will play a crucial role in helping these students to access the curriculum, develop their independence, and make progress in their learning and personal development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO to understand and implement individual education plans (IEPs) and support strategies for students with SEN.
- Providing one-on-one and small group support to students with a variety of needs, including but not limited to: learning difficulties, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, physical disabilities, and sensory impairments.
- Adapting learning materials and activities to meet the individual needs of students.
- Assisting students with their learning, both inside and outside the classroom.
- Supporting the social and emotional well-being of students with SEN.
- Providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCO on student progress and any challenges encountered.
- Assisting with the personal care needs of students, where required and appropriate.
- Contributing to a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
- Following school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding and confidentiality.
- Participating in relevant training and professional development opportunities.
- Communicating effectively with students, teachers, parents/carers, and other professionals.
What We Are Looking For:
- A relevant Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools).
- Significant experience of working as a Teaching Assistant, specifically supporting students with Special Educational Needs in a UK school setting.
- The ability to build positive and supportive relationships with students, parents/carers, and colleagues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
- A commitment to inclusion and the belief that all students can achieve.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance related to SEN in the UK.
