Our Trading business consists of our Greenhouse Business Centre based in Annfield Plain and our Land of Oak and Iron Heritage Centre, based in Winlaton Mill. As our Visitor Centre Manager you will be looking after our Land of Oak & Iron Heritage Visitor Centre.

About the role

Our Heritage Visitor Centre is nestled in the beautiful Derwent Valley and such a beautiful location to work from.

This position is for fixed term maternity cover, and provides a role where you can apply your experience in a new environment and broaden your skills in a friendly and collaborative team playing a key part in supporting the great work of our Charity. We’re excited to share both what you can bring to our team and what you can learn from us.

Our Visitor Centre Manager will run our successful Land of Oak & Iron Heritage Visitor Centre in Winlaton Mill near Gateshead. This opportunity is fixed term maternity cover position. Our Visitor Centre is an incredibly popular hub for local people and tourists alike. It is also home to our busy Café, specialising in good quality local produce, and a gift shop which showcases local craftspeople from in, and around, the Land of Oak & Iron.

The Visitor Centre Manager has overall responsibility for the daily management of our Heritage Visitor Centre and Cafe leading our team of staff and volunteers to ensure a high quality, professional and profitable business, catering, room hire and an events service.

About you

We are ideally seeking someone who has experience of working in a similar role managing a successful visitor centre including provision of catering, hospitality, events, and resource management. You will be customer focussed and passionate about the importance of excellent customer service as well as being a great people manager with the ability to lead and motivate a successful team.

This is a great opportunity for someone who has grown and developed their knowledge and skills and is looking for a new challenge with the passion and skills to ensure the ongoing success of our centre.
