SEN Teaching Assistant (TA) – Bodmin (Full-Time)

The Role:
GSL Education is seeking a compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team at a school in Bodmin, supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN) on a full-time, long-term basis, with potential for a permanent position. This role is ideal for individuals committed to making a meaningful difference in the lives of students with complex needs.

You will work with students who require additional academic and social support, including those on EHCPs, helping to engage them in learning and personal development. Duties include providing one-to-one and small group support, implementing tailored learning plans, and assisting in behaviour management to foster positive outcomes.

The School:
The school serves students across various age groups and has a supportive, inclusive environment tailored to meet the needs of students with SEN. Staff work closely to develop personalised learning approaches, ensuring each child has the opportunity to thrive both academically and socially.

Responsibilities:

  • Support students with SEN through one-to-one and group interventions.
  • Work alongside teachers, SEN coordinators, and other professionals to implement effective support strategies.
  • Help foster an encouraging and safe learning environment that promotes positive interactions.
  • Assist with day-to-day activities, academic tasks, and behavioural interventions to support students' progress.

Requirements:

  • Full UK Driving Licence and access to a car (preferred but not essential).
  • Availability for a full-time role, starting immediately.
  • Previous experience in a SEN role or working with children with additional needs is advantageous.
  • Strong communication, patience, empathy, and adaptability are essential for supporting SEN students effectively.

Safeguarding Notice:
This role requires a solid understanding of safeguarding and child protection. Successful applicants must provide an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service or be willing to apply for a new one.
