Job Title: Assistant Accountant

Pay Bracket: £30,000 - £32,000

Location: Bolton / Greater Manchester

We are working exclusively with a well-established, Retail business based in Bolton. They actively searching for an Assistant Accountant to support their Finance Team. This is deal for an experienced Accounts Assistant who is looking for their next step in their career within a growing company and friendly team. You will be reporting into the Finance Director assisting them daily allowing you to gain further experience too!

Responsibilities as an Assistant Accountant:

  • Month-End Procedures: Ensure timely completion of reconciliations and reporting, collaborating with the finance team to meet deadlines.
  • Supervise purchase ledger and payment processes, oversee supplier data and backorders. Manage sales ledger, credit control, and new credit customer approvals.
  • Assist with audit preparation, providing documentation and maintaining organized audit files.
  • Prepare and submit VAT and IOSS returns accurately and on time.
  • Continuously assess and improve internal financial controls for accuracy and compliance.
  • Review business expenditures regularly, identifying and implementing cost-saving measures with relevant departments.
  • Support reporting functions, conduct pricing reviews, website scraping, and provide commercial recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure excellent customer service.
  • Support the finance team with any ad-hoc tasks

Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong Excel Skills
  • Good written and verbal communication
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ideally AAT qualified
  • 2 years in an accounts assistant role preferred
  • Ideally ACCA, ACA or CIMA part qualified
  • Target-driven and able to prioritise workload independently
