Community Engagement / Business Development Manager

Bolton, hybrid remote with local travel (drivers license & car necessary)

Permanent, 36 hours per week, occasional evenings / weekends required to attend events (hours can be taken back)

£33,000 per year + 6% employer contribution pension + 25 days holiday + bank holidays, rising by 1 day per year of service up to 30 days

This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated and driven Community Engagement / Business Development Manager to join a well-established organisation

Our client is a not-for-profit financial institution, whose goal is to give back to the local community by providing ethical finance to those in need. Established for 20 years, they serve people who live in Bolton and surrounding areas.

Theyre looking for a Community Engagement / Business Development Manager with proven experience in either business development or community engagement (or both!) to spearhead their member engagement and sales. Marketing experience would also be a plus, and this role will involve all aspects of engaging with the local community, driving sales, and developing the physical and digital marketing strategy. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to take charge of the BD/engagement function of the organisation and make a real difference, in a highly varied and exciting role.

The role

Day-to-day responsibilities

The day-to-day responsibilities will be split into development and marketing work, with the primary focus being on the development side

Development

  • Maintain commitments and obligations to the local community
  • Raising awareness of the organisation within the local community through networks, communities, events, partnerships, etc
  • Assisting the CEO to maintain existing strategic business/salary saver partnerships to bring new members into the organisation
  • Reach out to existing leads to build new partnerships
  • As well as managing existing relationships and nurturing existing leads, also proactively searching for and contacting new leads to develop new partnerships
  • Attending community network meetings, local conferences, etc to promote the organisations services directly to prospective members
  • As well as managing existing relationships and nurturing existing leads, also proactively searching for and making contact with new leads to develop new strategic/salary saver commercial partnerships

Marketing

  • Developing & delivering a marketing strategy to bring in new partnerships & members
  • Proactive & targeted approach to new business generation by focusing digital and non-digital channels
  • Utilising social media & direct engagement with stakeholders
  • Capitalising on analytics & data driven techniques to boost engagement
  • Supervise the maintenance & updates of the organisations website by third-party suppliers

The Person

Essential

Proactive, outgoing, and with the ability to use intuition

An extraverted people person (you will be meeting people in person a lot!)

Proven experience of community engagement and/or business development success in a previous role

Must have a valid UK drivers license, own vehicle, and happy to use it for business travel in the local area (and willing to get business insurance)

Desirable

Strategic marketing experience/knowledge/qualifications

Digital marketing/social media management expertise

Creative and/or graphic design skills

Not-for-profit/charity experience

Financial services experience
