Tax Manager - Firm of Accountants - Bolton

You will play a critical role in the review and completion of tax returns for a varied client portfolio. You will also identify opportunities to contribute towards the development of a larger advisory function.

Responcibilbities include:

  • Management of P11ds.
  • Oversee personal tax returns, supporting junior staff with technical queries.
  • Completion of complex tax returns.
  • Act as a primary contact for clients, attending meetings as needed, and supporting in providing strategic business and tax advisory services.
  • Liaise with external bodies such as HMRC and promptly resolve client queries.
  • Support the Tax Director with advisory projects and ad hoc tax advice for clients.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor a small team, promoting a client-centric and supportive environment.
  • Contribute to monthly management meetings, driving operational and cultural improvements.

Skills and Experience:

  • CTA qualified (or equivalent) with post-qualification experience.
  • Proven experience managing a diverse client portfolio in an accounting practice.
  • In-depth knowledge of tax legislation.
  • Strong technical expertise in personal tax and capital allowances for sole traders and partnerships, as well as a good understanding of Corporation Tax.
  • Sound tax advisory knowledge enabling you to advise owner-managed businesses and families covering IHT, CGT, Income Tax and all Company Tax issues.
  • Experience of succession planning and corporate restructuring for company clients would be welcomed but not essential.
  • Experience of advising non-resident clients would be an advantage but not essential.
  • Proficiency in addressing complex tax issues.
  • Ability to nurture and maintain strong client relationships, providing excellent holistic advisory services from the company perspective and individuals.
  • Strong leadership experience with a track record of mentoring and developing teams.
