This global manufacturing business supplies FMCG products to major retailers and has benefitted recently from significant inward investment to further strengthen their position as an established market leader. With several sites across the UK they now have big plans to now increase capacity and product range so this a very exciting time to join the business. A recent review of the central finance function has identified a need to recruit a dedicated Tax Manager to ensure compliance with local and EU tax laws and ensure the accuracy and integrity of all tax related issues. The role will have a wide range of interaction with colleagues in the UK and Europe, you will become the go to person for tax technical support, problem solving and suggesting pro-active strategies for tax mitigation and optimization of net income. Key responsibilities will be:
- Manage and supervise the filing of tax declarations/returns and customs declarations / returns and environment/energy related taxes.
- Collaborate with finance and accounting teams to ensure tax strategies and policies are implemented accurately in accordance with national tax regulations including transfer prices
- Provide tax, provisions, grants, etc. for Integrated business planning and forecasting
- Identify, track and report any potential business financial risks or issues (as well as opportunities) and work closely with accounting teams to implement appropriate solutions.
- Coordinate and manage tax audits, inquiries and notices from tax authorities.
- Supporting sustainability projects (ex. Biogas, Biomass, Solar Panels, etc.) including grants/subsidies funding
- Contact person for internal and external stakeholders, tax and audit related.
A key part of the role will include reviewing existing systems, processes and controls to recommend improvements, researching key areas if necessary and implementing required solutions. The Tax Manager will work closely with internal teams and external advisors to manage corporate tax, VAT, and other indirect taxes, while keeping up-to-date with regulatory changes. The position reports directly to the Head of Finance UK and requires strong technical expertise in tax law and tax compliance with a solution-oriented approach to tax planning.
Suitable applicants will likely be CTA (Chartered Tax Advisor) qualified, or similar ACA / ACCA with at least 5 years of experience in tax roles, including experience with corporate tax compliance, VAT, and tax planning, ideally with experience working with UK-based and international tax matters, including transfer pricing, group tax relief, and VAT across different business models.
