QA Technician

Salary: £30,000 - £35,000

Hours: Flexitime Available - Core hours (9:30am/4:30pm) - 38 hours per week

Location: Bolton BL6

Overview

The QA Technician is responsible for testing, measuring, and analyzing products as requested, using the equipment in the Analysis room and CMM room. The role requires producing accurate reports on analyzed products while supporting production through ad hoc duties and containment activities when needed.

Key Responsibilities

Analyze Returns:

  • Perform detailed analysis of products returned from customers or the field, identifying defects and causes.

Function Test and Measurement:

  • Conduct function tests and measurements on new, re-designed, and existing products as required.

Product Reliability:

  • Test product reliability, ensuring alignment with customer needs and specified timelines.

Reporting:

  • Produce clear and accurate reports for testing, investigation, and measurement, using analytical methods where necessary.

Equipment Inspection and Repair:

  • Regularly inspect testing equipment, performing basic maintenance and repairs as needed.

Documentation:

  • Maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for testing equipment and support Customer and Supplier PPAP submissions.

Supporting Production:

  • Assist the production department with various ad hoc duties, including containment activities when necessary.

Qualifications & Experience

Education:

  • ONC level or higher education in an engineering-related field.

Skills:

  • In-depth knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • CMM programming skills and operation of test stands.
  • Strong report writing and communication abilities.
  • Fault-finding skills to identify basic causes of product defects.

Experience:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with specific experience in programming and using CMMs.

Additional Notes

The role may involve some technical interface with customers, suppliers, and core teams to discuss investigation results and support the Quality Engineer or Quality Manager.
