Quality Engineer

Salary - £40,000 - £50,000 (DOE)

Location - Bolton BL5

Role Purpose:

Our client is a global leader in outdoor digital signage solutions, offering full-service capabilities from hardware development and manufacturing to customer back-end services. We are seeking a Quality Control Manager to ensure that our quality control systems continuously evolve to meet stakeholder requirements, including our customers. This role will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing quality standards, ensuring the design intent is met, and resolving quality issues with suppliers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement quality control systems and standards, such as ISO9000 and ISO14000.
  • Direct and coordinate the company's quality control processes to ensure all products meet design and quality requirements.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate quality considerations early in the product lifecycle and transition new products into manufacturing.
  • Source and assess vendors in partnership with design and procurement teams to ensure optimal product quality.
  • Conduct regular site visits to vendor facilities, reviewing manufacturing procedures and compliance with quality standards.
  • Perform quality control audits and monitor incoming supplies to check for defects.
  • Conduct tests and assessments to identify and address product quality issues.
  • Maintain detailed reports on supplier quality, including defect rates and areas of concern.
  • Provide technical advice to suppliers, assisting them in reducing defect rates.
  • Serve as a liaison between Amscreen senior management and vendors to address quality issues and propose solutions.
  • Perform vendor assessments and surveillance audits to ensure ongoing compliance.

Position Profile:

  • Extensive experience in implementing and maintaining ISO9000 and ISO14000 standards.
  • Strong knowledge and experience in DFMEA, FMEA, APQP, PPAP, and Lean Manufacturing techniques. Six Sigma certification is desirable.
  • Proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD systems.

Skills & Personal Attributes:

  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with standard Microsoft tools (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • High enthusiasm and willingness to learn and improve.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Flexibility in work approach and willingness to travel when required (valid driving license is necessary).

Qualifications:

  • Preferred: Degree in Quality Management, Manufacturing, Engineering, or related fields.
  • Alternatively, HND, BTEC Level 5, NVQ Level 5, or equivalent qualifications in Electronics or Engineering.
