Your New Role

Our client is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator/Quantity Surveyor to join their team. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing costs and ensuring the financial viability of conservation and restoration projects from inception to completion. This position offers an excellent opportunity to work on unique and historically significant buildings while contributing to the company's continued growth and success.



Responsibilities Will Include:

  • Preparing accurate cost estimates for conservation and restoration projects, including materials, labour, and subcontractor costs.

  • Conducting risk analysis and advising on cost-effective solutions tailored to heritage buildings.

  • Reviewing project specifications and drawings to ensure a thorough understanding of restoration requirements.

  • Managing budgets and financial reports to monitor project costs and profitability.

  • Preparing and issuing tenders, negotiating contracts, and securing competitive pricing from suppliers and specialist subcontractors.

  • Carrying out valuations, submitting applications for payment, and ensuring timely payment collection.

  • Managing variations, change orders, and final account settlements.

  • Collaborating with project managers, site teams, and clients to ensure cost control and efficient project delivery.

  • Staying updated with industry trends, cost fluctuations, and best practices in conservation and heritage restoration.



What You Will Need to Succeed:

  • Proven experience as an Estimator or Quantity Surveyor within the conservation, heritage, or masonry sector.

  • Strong knowledge of cost estimating techniques and contracts relevant to restoration projects.

  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills with a keen eye for detail.

  • Proficiency in estimating and surveying software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines effectively.

  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders.

  • Relevant qualifications in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.

  • A proactive approach and problem-solving mindset.
