Contract: 1 Year (Maternity Cover)
Location: Bolton, BL3
Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week (Monday - Thursday: 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Friday: 8:00 am - 3:30 pm)
Daily Rate: 90 - 110

Role Overview:


We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Technician to join a vibrant and inclusive secondary school located in Bolton, this school is dedicated to providing a supportive and stimulating environment for their students. The Science Department is an essential part of this schools commitment to inspiring young minds, fostering curiosity, and preparing students for future success. This position is for a one-year maternity cover. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the science teaching staff by preparing laboratory equipment, organising materials, and ensuring a safe and efficient learning environment for students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and set up equipment, materials, and experiments for science lessons in line with curriculum requirements.
  • Assist teachers during practical science lessons as needed, ensuring all health and safety regulations are met.
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, manage inventory, and ensure all materials are stored correctly.
  • Support the department in organising resources and maintaining an orderly and clean laboratory environment.
  • Dispose of hazardous materials safely and responsibly, following established procedures.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a Science Technician or in a similar role is preferred, but not essential.
  • A valid DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) certificate or a willingness to obtain one before starting.
  • A good understanding of laboratory safety and health protocols.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and positive learning environment for students.
