Our secondary SEN school in Bolton is a welcoming and inclusive community dedicated to helping students with diverse learning needs thrive. We support young people with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges. Our team is committed to providing a safe, supportive, and stimulating environment where every student can achieve their full potential.
The Role
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students and staff to provide tailored support for young people with SEN. You will play an essential role in helping students access the curriculum, develop life skills, and build their confidence and independence.
Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support for students with SEN, adapting to their individual needs.
  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging and inclusive lessons.
  • Help students with personal development, including social skills and emotional regulation.
  • Support the management of challenging behaviours in a calm and empathetic manner.
  • Promote an inclusive and supportive learning environment that encourages student progress.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider school team, parents/carers, and external agencies.


About You
We're looking for a caring and resilient individual who is:

  • Experienced: Prior experience working with young people with SEN, particularly in a secondary school setting, is highly desirable.
  • Patient: Able to remain calm and supportive when working with students who may exhibit challenging behaviours.
  • Adaptable: Flexible and resourceful in meeting the diverse needs of students.
