DescriptionSefton Council is seeking experienced Senior Practitioner Social Workers to join our Children in Need, Child Protection, and Children in Care Teams.   • Manage complex cases involving children in need, child protection, and looked-after children.
  • Provide expert guidance, mentoring, and support to social workers within the team.
  • Undertake statutory assessments, direct work with families, and safeguarding interventions.
  • Prepare and present reports for court proceedings, case conferences, and multi-agency meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with families, schools, health professionals, and other agencies.
  • Contribute to the development of best practice, supporting a culture of learning and continuous improvement.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: Degree in Social Work and registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience: Minimum two years’ post-qualification experience in a statutory children’s social care service.
  • Skills: Strong risk assessment, communication, and decision-making skills.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of child protection legislation, assessment frameworks, and best practices.
  • Other Requirements: Ability to travel across Sefton and flexibility to respond to service demands.
