Allocations Officer (Housing Allocations Specialist)

We're recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Allocations Officer to join a busy and committed housing team.

Are you a housing professional with a passion for helping people find safe, secure homes? Do you have hands-on experience managing social housing allocations and navigating housing needs? If so, we want to hear from you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Administer social housing and supported accommodation allocations in line with housing legislation (Housing Act 1996, Part 6).
  • Manage Choice-Based Lettings (CBL) through the Locata system.
  • Address a significant backlog of allocations efficiently and accurately.
  • Liaise with housing providers on property availability, advertisements, and nominations.
  • Provide clear advice to applicants, landlords, and partner agencies.
  • Verify applicant details (ID, credit checks, address history) to prevent fraud.
  • Maintain detailed records and contribute to reports, policy reviews, and service improvement.

What We're Looking For:

  • Proven experience working as an Allocations Officer under Part 6 legislation.
  • Confidence using Locata CBL systems.
  • Strong background in customer-facing housing or support roles, especially working with vulnerable clients.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • High resilience, attention to detail, and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Basic DBS required.
  • Ability to attend the office for induction and equipment collection; otherwise, the role is remote.
