Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated and resilient 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team, supporting students aged 11-16 at a SEN school in Bournemouth. This specialist provision caters to students with Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs) for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other complex needs, including Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) challenges.

The ideal candidate will provide tailored support to a student with specific needs, helping them access learning and manage challenging behaviour in a structured and supportive environment.

Position Details:

  • Location: Bournemouth
  • Position: 1:1 SEN TA
  • Hours: 19.5 hours a week (08.30am - 15:30pm)
  • Full time/Part time: Part time only - Set days are Mon, Weds, Fri
  • Minimum Rate of Pay: £85.10 per day, depending on experience
  • Start date: ASAP

Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Offer 1:1 support to a secondary school student with autism and SEMH needs.
  • Assist with classroom tasks, behaviour management, and engagement in lessons.
  • Implement strategies to support emotional regulation and positive interactions.
  • Build strong rapport with the student to foster trust and consistency.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff, and external professionals.

Experience, Training & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with challenging behaviour
  • Previous experience supporting children with SEN is desirable
  • Up to date safeguarding training within the last year (desired but training can be provided)

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THIS ROLE THROUGH PROSPERO TEACHING, YOU MUST:

  • Hold Right to Work in the UK
  • Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application
  • Provide two professional references
