Are you a recent Psychology graduate with a passion for making a positive impact in the lives of children with SEN needs? Or are you currently studying Psychology and keen to gain relevant experience around your degree? Either way, we have the perfect role for you!

GSL Education work with various SEN schools, around Bournemouth and the wider Dorset area. We are on the lookout for passionate Teaching Assistants, who are keen to make a meaningful impact to the lives of children with SEN needs. We believe in creating inclusive environments, where every child has the opportunity to thrive, gain independence and succeed. 

As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with experienced teachers to provide tailored support and assistance to students with special educational needs.

Your duties may include:

  • Assisting in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with SEN.
  • Providing one-on-one support to students during lessons and activities.
  • Collaborating with teachers to adapt lesson plans and materials to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Monitoring and recording student progress and communicating with teachers and parents/carers.
  • Creating a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel valued and respected.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Psychology or a related field.
  • Passion for working with children and making a difference in their lives.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working with children with special educational needs.
  • Knowledge of relevant SEN strategies and interventions.
  • Additional qualifications in education or psychology.
