Business Intelligence Developer – Berkshire

Permanent – Up to £55,000 per annum (depending on experience) + Benefits

Join a global company in an exciting BI Developer role where you will be instrumental in developing cutting-edge data solutions that drive business performance. In this role, you’ll work with cross-functional teams to create and optimize Power BI dashboards, improve data models, and ensure the smooth and efficient flow of data across various systems. You will have the opportunity to develop your knowledge and expertise in the full data modelling lifecycle while making a tangible impact on the business.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with users and the global project team to gather and understand new data requirements.
  • Develop Power BI datasets, dashboards, and visualizations as per specifications provided by the project delivery team or ad hoc requests.
  • Design and develop ancillary systems, including queries, reports, and user tools, especially related to Power BI builds.
  • Maintain high data integrity by adhering to in-house design principles and ensuring proper data model cardinality.
  • Validate report outputs against source systems/reports to ensure robustness and accuracy.
  • Design visualizations that effectively communicate KPIs and enhance adoption by end-users.
  • Work with the data engineering team to deploy changes to data models.
  • Design and implement proof-of-concept reports to determine the best approaches for production.
  • Periodically review the data model, optimize table joins, and resolve performance issues.
  • Provide internal communication for new feature rollouts and enhancements.
  • Identify opportunities for system improvements and reengineering.
  • Support stakeholder training and the adoption of new tools and systems.
  • Collaborate with other regions on modelling changes and report designs.

Qualifications and Key Skills:

  • Proven experience in developing Power BI reports, data modelling, and creating column/measure definitions.
  • Strong working knowledge of DAX and SQL.
  • Expertise in data management, transformation, and ETL processes.
  • Familiarity with general database architectures or specific architectures.
  • Fully proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
