Underwriting Manager (Complex Residential & Buy-to-Let)Our client, one of the UKs leading providers of Specialist Lending is looking for an experienced Residential & Buy to Let Underwriting Manager to join their Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to manage a team of underwriters.Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, manage, and motivate team.
  • Support customer service excellence by resolving complex cases and escalations.
  • Hold an underwriting mandate to make decisions on challenging cases.
  • Oversee mortgage applications to ensure compliance with lending policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct audits, evaluate processes, and implement improvements.
  • Collaborate with Sales Teams, brokers, and customers to build productive relationships.
  • Drive team development through coaching, mentoring, and training.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Leadership experience in mortgage lending within a regulated financial services environment.
  • Strong mortgage processing and underwriting expertise, particularly with complex residential and Buy-to-Let mortgages.
  • Senior-level mandate holder experience.
  • Deep understanding of the mortgage market and credit risk.
  • Proven people management, performance management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and organisational abilities.
Desirable:
  • Previous experience in managing change and driving process enhancements.
